While everyone’s participation is essential for our worship, we do have identified ministries that help assure that everything is offered with beauty and joy. Following are some of the ministries anyone is welcome to explore and make their own. Please speak to someone involved in that ministry for more information, or express your interest or questions to one of the clergy.
Lectors, who read the Old Testament and New Testament readings.
Intercessor, who leads the congregation in the Prayers of the People.
Chalicists, who distribute wine during Holy Communion.
Altar Guild, who care for the altar linens and other liturgical items such as the Eucharistic vessels, elements, vestments, candles and small furnishings for the altar; they also are responsible for preparing the church for the liturgical seasons with flowers and other appropriate ornaments.
Ushers, who greet and welcome people as they arrive, distributing service bulletins and escorting them to seats.
Coffee hour hosts and Hospitality Team, who provide refreshment after the Sunday service and set up special events such as Senior Lunch, Sustainable Harvest Suppers, Chicken Barbecues and other parish fundraisers.
Lay Eucharistic Visitors, who are members of St. Augustine’s Church who bring Holy Communion to our home-bound parishioners.
