St. Augustine’s has for many years provided a main meal, salad, and dessert on the first weekend of every month to Welcome House, the homeless shelter at 8 North Road in Peace Dale. The shelter’s request is that we bring enough to serve 25 people.
In 2012, a very small number of parishioners, approximately 3, was working on this, so that each person on the team brought one component of the meal every month. In contrast, there are now at least 10 volunteers on the team.
Each person has 3 or 4 assignments during the year, alternating main meal, salad, and dessert. Volunteers can bring ingredients, or a completed dish.
